Welcome to the FWI Texas District website! Our membership base extends throughout the great state of Texas and includes two time zones! Currently we have groups in most of the major cities and are looking to re-activate others in the year to come. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the board members for additional information about our District, you won’t find a friendlier bunch of gals!
Message from Laura Rodgers,
District President
I cannot begin to tell you how FWI has
enriched my life, both personally and
professionally. In 1999, I was invited to a
meeting of the East Texas North Group and
remember thinking I could never be an
officer and speak in front of all those
ladies.
Later that year I joined FWI, registered
for my first conference in 2000 held in
I have learned more about myself and my abilities in the past seven years through FWI than I could have ever imagined possible. Primarily that FWI is the perfect venue for those of us who are afraid to step out of our comfort zone and experiment with something new. I cannot tell you how many times I have stepped out of my comfort zone in the past 7 years! I am becoming more and more comfortable with particular functions and now it is time for me to redefine my “comfort zone”. It is important for us to remember we are among friends. The women of FWI are here to help us and to teach us. One of the wonderful things about the members of this organization is that we want each other to succeed. We want to succeed together and we want each of us to succeed individually.
I have so much to learn and I am excited about the opportunities FWI provides for me and for you. There are numerous programs, workshops, scholarships, teleforums, conferences, and networking opportunities available to every member and I encourage each of you to take advantage of everything this organization has to offer. The website has a wealth of information which I personally use on a regular basis. Each of us needs to embrace the FWI tag line – Learn, Lead, Succeed. Everything we need to do that, can be gained by being active members of FWI.
My theme this year is to ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE…
Accept the challenge… to become more involved in FWI
… to step into a leadership role
… to step out of your comfort zone
… to be a mentor for other FWI members
… to attend district conference
… to enroll in the Management Certificate Program
… to increase membership
The list goes on and on. I encourage you to list your own challenges, whether they are personal or professional, and review them often.
I look forward to serving as the
Always remember, the more you put into something, the more you will get out of it.
