Success in the Workplace, Brighter Futures for Families
Dress for Success San Diego is focused exclusively on extending a lifeline of services to low income women as they transition from government subsidy to interview preparedness, through job-readiness and employment retention.  It all starts at the private, warmly decorated Dress for Success San Diego boutique, where each client receives consultation and business attire as she prepares for a job interview that can change the course of her life.  This visit is the first link in a chain of services devoted to social and economic development, assuring clients that they have support and encouragement throughout their journey to self-sufficiency.

Dress for Success Worldwide is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women located in 78 cities across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and New Zealand.  The professional clothing, employment retention programs and ongoing support that we provide our clients symbolize our faith in every woman’s ability to be self-sufficient and successful in her career.

Becky’s House Residential Program

In 1999, the YWCA of San Diego had a vision to raise enough money to build a transitional home for victims of domestic violence and their children. With the support of Jeff and Jer of Star Radio, community partners and concerned individuals, that dream became a reality in 2001 with the opening of Becky’s House.

Becky’s House consists of ten townhouses and is managed by the YWCA of San Diego. Services offered to residents include:

    • Counseling and support groups for the women and children
    •  Legal advocacy
    • Tutoring and GED assistance
    • Parenting workshops
    • Job skills assessment and training
    • Children’s activities

The Martha Ann Mary Ida House for Homeless Women

The Brother Benno Foundation in Oceanside, CA, was founded in 1983 and started out as a “soup kitchen”. The foundation of all the services provided is “unconditional love” and supports the motto “Uplifting the Dignity of Those We Serve”.  All staff is volunteer with 100% of contributions going directly to those served.

Today Brother Benno's provides a wide scope of services to the homeless and working poor including food, clothing, a reading program for kids, ESL classes, case management, and transitional housing for men and women in recovery, among other programs.

The Martha Ann Mary Ida House is an emergency transitional shelter for homeless women and women with children.

Members of Financial Women International have been responsible for raising dollars for the Girlfriends Care Fund which helps these women to successfully re-enter society. Other projects have included collecting books for the kids' reading program called "Got Books!”, assisting with financial literacy programs, and job search preparation.
