LEARN STRATEGIES FOR YOUR NEW POSITION, PROMOTION OR PROJECT

Financial Women International introduces Hit the Ground Running workshop

ROSEVILLE, MINNESOTA - The high stakes of beginning a new position, accepting a promotion, or taking on a project require a well-planned strategy based on vision and values. A new Financial Women International (FWI) workshop focuses on how to successfully manage those leadership challenges and come out on top.

The new half-day Paragon Circle workshop is based on the book Hit the Ground Running: A Woman’s Guide to Success for the First 100 Days on the Job by Liz Cornish, president of First Hundred Days Consulting. The FWI workshop is based not only on the widely read leadership book and workbook, but also on the nearly 300 interviews Cornish conducted with accomplished executives.

Taught by FWI’s Certified Program Facilitators, the workshop is available to FWI groups and other organizations.

“The first 100 days is a critical, vulnerable time,” Cornish said. “It’s a time when easily avoided tactical errors can launch a crisis of confidence in your leadership.”

The Hit the Ground Running workshop will engage participants in lively exercises that focus on critical skills in any workplace, such as how to:

·         Manage the push to move quickly against the pull to make thoughtful, informed decisions;

·         Identify the common pitfalls of leadership transitions and ways to overcome them;

·         Allocate that most precious commodity: time;

·         Craft a leadership transition plan that maximizes success;

·         Identify what matters most in each of the four stages of leadership transition;

·         Respond to initial setbacks that can make or break a career.

Hit the Ground Running is FWI’s 2008-09 Paragon Circle program, funded by individual and group contributions from the FWI membership. Each year, dozens of FWI groups teach the program at state and regional conferences, often in collaboration with their state bankers association or other financial services organizations. Recent programs such as See Jane Lead and Positive Risk are still available as well.
