Financial Women International & The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (GSB) Women In Banking Scholarship Program
The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (GSB) Scholarship is offered in partnership with the Financial Women International (FWI) Foundation to encourage women in the financial services industry to strive for achievement of their career goals, to help them gain the education necessary to achieve these goals, and to develop more role models for women in the industry.
Created in 1973, the FWI Foundation is dedicated to the advancement of financial services industry professionals, by providing tools, resources and opportunities that will benefit the individual, the industry and the community at large.
Eligibility Each applicant must qualify under one of the following criteria:

Officers of FDIC-insured banks or savings institutions with five years of banking experience, as well as a four-year college degree or four additional years of financial services experience.

State and federal financial institution regulatory officials and bank directors with educational background and experience comparable to that required of bank officers.

Non-officer bank or savings institution employees who are performing officer-level functions will be considered if their applications are accompanied by letters of recommendation from their chief executive officers describing current duties and responsibilities.

Professionals from other financial service institutions and from firms providing services to banks who have educational and experience backgrounds comparable to that required of bank officers will be considered for admission on a space available basis.

Current students already enrolled in the GSB program are not eligible for this scholarship.
Award Recipient will receive a $1,200 discount from the regularly charged fees for each year of attendance at GSB. Additionally, the FWI Foundation offers the recipient of the GSB Scholarship a matching scholarship of approximately one-third of the yearly tuition, room and board costs, for a total scholarship value of $7,200. This scholarship is non-transferable, and the recipient must matriculate into the GSB program within one year of the date of the scholarship award.

*Scholarship winner will be notified by Sept. 1, 2008. If chosen as a scholarship recipient, you will need to provide FWI with your resume and a letter of recommendation from a supervisor with agreement to support your attendance. Professionals from financial service institutions other than banks and firms providing services to banks should provide letters of recommendation from a client.
